Linen robe
Coming soon - making of the Merchant & Mills’ Sunday robe in linen from Tessuti.
For this robe I used the Simplicity bias tape maker to make the belt loops and hanging hook. For really narrow pieces like these I absolutely loathe sewing them right sides together and turning them out. Instead, I made them like bias tape and topstitched. Who cares if you can see the stitches? The less time I have to spend turning loops the better. The bias tape maker is a cool gadget.
I also used some couture techniques on the patch pockets. Rounded edges never look quite rounded if I just turn them in, so I basted along the turning line and used that to ease into the right shape, kind of like a sleeve cap.
